Kalie McCartin
With a passion for working with children and a competitive and athletic drive to help athletes perform at their peak, Dr. McCartin first brought her services to the South Bay in a unique and technologically advanced practice. After demand increased from patients driving from various parts of LA and Orange counties, she has expanded her services to both counties. As a Neuro-Optometrist, Dr. McCartin works to improve the entire visual process beyond just the ability to see 20/20.
Dr. McCartin received her undergraduate degree from CSU Sacramento with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry, and double concentrations in Microbiology and Molecular Biology.
She went on to receive her Doctorate in Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in the Philadelphia area. While working on her doctorate, Dr. McCartin trained under world-renowned doctors who pioneered research in vision development and vision therapy as a treatment for countless disorders. She served a rotation specializing in pediatrics and vision therapy and it truly fueled her passion to help with the often missed disorders and her drive to learn more about diagnosing and treating them. She served another rotation at the Long Beach VA hospital assessing post-traumatic brain injury military servicemen and women and was deeply touched by the extensive level that vision is affected in brain injuries and researched further into vision rehabilitation.
While completing her doctorate she was the recipient of several awards and scholarships including the National American Optometric Society’s InfantSee Scholarship. She was also awarded the Dr. & Mrs. H.C. Verma Memorial Award. The award was presented for demonstrating above-average community service outside of the campus while maintaining a high standard of academic performance.
Always continuing to learn and stay abreast of the newest research and treatment options, Dr. McCartin is a member of and actively working on her fellowships through several organizations including the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitative Association, and the College of Vision Development.
Working to provide the best treatments and training for athletes, Dr. McCartin is also a member of the International Sports Vision Association. The organization works with and trains doctors and other healthcare providers and professionals who work with children just starting and working to improve their skills to professional athletes.
In her spare time, Dr. McCartin spends her time enjoying the amazing weather in the South Bay with her two children. She enjoys spending time at the beach, jogging, golfing, and visiting farmer’s markets. Dr. McCartin is a member of various networking groups and is always working to stay up to date and active in the South Bay where she is happy to call home.
